I tried the gator I ordered from you today. The yarn slips out of the holes and between the halves of the gator causing the twist it’s supposed to prevent. Pretty disappointed. On line shopping isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Yarn Gator

I was excited about this gadget. I set it up with my current intarsia project with much excitement as I was dealing with tangles galore. The tangling was still an issue while using the yarn gator, it made no difference except it was more of a pain to unwind my yarn from the gator:/. I was bummed! I’m only using three different colors too, so I can’t imagine even more yarns added in. Unless I’m using it wrong, it’s going into the notions box never to be seen again:/

The Yarn Gator doesn't automatically untwist yarns or prevent twisting if you turn your work the same direction each time. It simply separates the yarn strands so that they pull smoothly from the bag and are easy to identify. You still need to properly manage your yarn after it passes through the Gator.

Normally, with one strand of yarn, you'd turn your work clockwise every time because that automatically puts the yarn in the back for the next row,
The problem when you are using multiple colors is that when you always turn your work the same direction, it will slowly twist the 2 color strands together.
Here's an example of a best practice solution:
Alternate which direction you turn. So knit your knit row and then rotate clockwise, then after purling your purl row, you want to rotate your work counterclockwise to untwist the yarns.

Kept Me from Giving Up on Colorwork!

The Yarn Gator helped me stick with colorwork when I was ready to give up! It keeps my yarn balls manageable and significantly reduces tangling, so I can spend more time knitting and less time untangling. It’s made colorwork much less frustrating and more enjoyable. So glad I tried it!

Didn't do what I expected

I was knitting a two color sweater and wanted to use it for the sleeve and when I tried it, I still has to untangle the two colors. I thought it was going to keep them untwisted, but it did not. Must be my fault for not really exploring what this was uded for, The product is very well made and I love purchasing form this store so please know it has nothing to do with the quality of the product. The customer service has alwayds been top notch and I will continue to but from them. I do have quite a few of their products! 5 stars for the company

Yarn became too tangled. I already started my project so I added the yarn later. It was difficult to open to insert the year and to clasp it to my bag. Sorry it didn't work for me.

Yarn Gator is great

The yarn gator is perfect. I had always avoided using yarn-feeding devices before this because there was no way of removing the yarn without cutting it. The yarn gator opens up and frees the yarn if necessary. It’s very well designed and manufactured.

Love My 🐊!!!!

Love this item! Used to get my yarn tangled and tried to used different items to hold my yarn but it never worked. Now I use my gator and guess what? No tangling and I can use multiple yarns! Love my gator!

Yarn Gator for the win!

I love stranded knitting except for the sometimes tangled yarns. This solved that and it is so easy to set up, add or change colors and even goes along on outings easily. My only regret is that I wish I had ordered the minute I saw it and hadn't waited a couple of weeks.

This is the best yarn gator!

This yarn gator that separates your different balls of yarn and keeps them from tangling up is just great. But the best part is that your can open it up at any time to add or remove yarn strands without breaking the yarn and the clips can be used to secure your gator to the sides of your bag. I love the colors, too! Particularly the sparkles!

Juggling the handdyed

Being a hand dyer I often use my own yarn and need to alternate skeins. Sitting at the table with 3 to 4 skeins playing leap frog was the old way but now with the yarn gator I am set to change the skein every 2 row with ease.

Color work life saver!

I am learning color work and I was struggling with my yarn getting twisted as I worked. I used a small bag and the yarn gator and I was able to finish the project with minimal twisting (attributed to my learning curve). I even got to the point where I could take my color work project with me on the subway! Also pictured in the image is the TSS row counter.

Very helpful tool

I just finished a project that used 6 strands of yarn, four of which are lace-weight glittery things that live to tangle (hey, Christmas is coming, it's glitter season), and this really worked. Four stars instead of five because I felt it was overpriced for what it is, but still glad I have it in my knitting bag. It's well thought out, stays where you clip it, stays shut while using it, lets you open it and remove it when necessary or in my case, add it to an in-process project painlessly.

Yarn Gator

I recently learned intarsia and stranded knitting, and was having trouble keeping my yarns from twisting and tangling. The yarn gator has been a big help. Definitely recommend it. I hope they make them in neutral colors. The silver one has glitter, which is clearly noted in the description, but I didn’t want the green one. Would prefer silver or neutral colors without glitter. It’s just preference.

I absolutely love the Yarn Gator, bought 2 initially and need to buy more sobi have one for each project and gifts for my crochet friends!

What are your shipping methods and times?

All packages are shipped from our hands to yours from our studio here in lovely Pocatello, Idaho, USA.

All packages typically ship within 1-3 business days through USPS first class mail.

Free shipping and Standard First Class packages typically take 5-7 business days to arrive in your hot little hands, but may be subject to seasonal or other delays from our lovely post office people.

This means that your package will arrive in a happy white bubble envelope in your regular mail box. 😊
